Behind The Book: Jim Fruchterman's "Technology For Good"

In collaboration with The Ronald and Maxine Linde Center for Science, Society, and Policy, Caltech's Behind The Book series will present MacArthur Fellow and Skoll Awardee (for Social Entrepreneurship) Jim Fruchterman in conversation with Caltech Professor R. Michael Alvarez discussing Frucherman's new book, Technology for Good: How Nonprofit Leaders Are Using Software and Data to Solve Our Most pressing Social Problems.
Admission is free but reservations are strongly recommended.
Their conversation will cover how nonprofits are looking for a better deal for data to support the work that they are doing for society. Fruchterman is a Caltech alumnus, former rocket engineer and a passionate leader in the social enterprise movement. He is the founder of Benetech, an award-winning tech nonprofit. He also leads Tech Matters, a tech nonprofit that develops open-source software for crisis response and climate adaptation.
Alvarez is professor of political science at Caltech and the co-founder of The Ronald and Maxine Linde Center for Science, Society and Public Policy as well as the co-director of the Voting Technology Project, a joint Caltech-MIT initiative.
