Caltech/UCLA Joint Analysis Seminar
Decouplings and applications
Ciprian Demeter,
Associate Professor,
Mathematics,
Indiana University,
We will introduce a type of Fourier analytic inequalities called decouplings and we will explore the range of their applicability in PDEs and Number Theory. Examples will include progress on the local smoothing conjecture for the wave equation and on estimating various exponential sums. Joint work with Jean Bourgain.
