Slice disks modulo local knotting
Jeffrey Meier, Professor, Department of Mathematics, Western Washington University,

We will discuss the problem of classifying slice disks. After describing the various difficulties inherent to the problem, we will focus in on the setting of fibered, homotopy-ribbon disks to state some classification results. Connections with major open problems in four-dimensional topology will be highlighted along the way. This talk is based on joint work with Allison Miller and with Alex Zupan.
