CTLO - Summer Faculty Lunch Series

Please join us every other Wednesday this summer to discuss the pressing topics of teaching with faculty colleagues and CTLO staff. We'll share ideas and strategies to solve problems and transform teaching and learning at Caltech. These events are open to course instructors of any rank, including staff, post-docs, lecturers, and other faculty members.

August 6 – Integrating AI Into Your Courses (Discussion 3 of 6)

Are you ready to dip your toes into integrating AI in your courses? Do you want to explore ways to create AI chatbots for your course, integrate AI use into your assignments, or use AI to help students explore creative projects and research ideas? Come discuss these ideas and more.

The following discussion will be:

August 20 – Transformational versus Transactional Learning

How can we transform modern classroom interactions from a transactional nature (I do this, I earn these points) to a more transformational experience, shifting from extrinsic to intrinsic motivation for students to learn.

September 3 – College Teaching Best Practices

Come discuss best practices with colleagues, including how to use class time, work with TAs, structure course grading, and design assignments and assessments.

September 17 – Working with TAs and Learning Support

How can you support student learning in your courses utilizing TAs and other resources provided by Caltech? We'll discuss the various ways students can be supported in and out of the classroom, including by leveraging educational technology.
