Election Science Office Hours, a webinar series presented by the Caltech Election Integrity Project
Please join us on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:00 am Pacific for the next episode of Election Science Office Hours, a webinar series presented by the Caltech Election Integrity Project and moderated by R. Michael Alvarez, PhD, Flintridge Foundation Professor of Political and Computational Social Science at Caltech and Co-Director, Linde Center for Science, Society, and Policy (LCSSP).
Professor Alvarez and his military and overseas voting expert guests for this episode will discuss research efforts since the adoption of the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) and Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act, the current challenges faced by UOCAVA voters and the election officials who serve them, potential policy or technology changes that could assist these voters, and what to watch for as we head into the 2026 midterms.
They will discuss these topics through the lens of the Overseas Voting Initiative (OVI), a collaboration between The Council of State Governments and the U.S. Department of Defense Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) with its mission to educate state policymakers, election officials, and other election community stakeholders about the unique voting challenges faced by military and other U.S. citizens overseas, and methods for improving the voting process for these individuals.
