"Every few years, one hears a concert that demonstrates such supreme musicianship that the memory remains forever." Ken Keaton writing in the Palm Beach Daily News illustrates why the Guarneri String Quartet becomes Coleman's fifth-most popular artist with this 16th series engagement, matching the appearances by the group's mentor, the legendary Budapest String Quartet. The Salt Lake Tribune described the Guarneri String Quartet as "quite possibly the most distinguished string quartet in the solar system" after a recording was launched with the spacecraft Voyager 2; now that Voyager has escaped the heliopause, the Quartet has become interstellar.

Program:

  • Mozart: Quartet in B-flat Major, K. 589 "Prussian"
  • Bridge: Quartet No. 1 in E minor "Bologna"
  • Ravel: Quartet in F Major

This performance is sponsored, in part, in honor of John D. Roberts; and also, in part, by Robert Winter.
