Soft Metric Fluctuations in Cosmology
Daniel Green, UC San Diego,

Loop corrections to inflationary and/or de Sitter correlators have been plagued by technical and conceptual challenges. Many techniques for directly calculating the loops do not regulate all the divergences, leading to a variety of (mis) interpretations of these unphysical results. In this talk, I will explain the origin of these confusions and their resolutions. I will introduce soft de Sitter effective theory as a tool for making sense of diverges and large IR effects. This will enable us to prove conservation of the scalar and tensor modes to all order in perturbation theory. I will then show how to understand these results in the full UV calculation (ie without EFT) using the Mellin transform.

The talk is in 469 Lauritsen.
