Number Theory Seminar

In this talk we will explore the Langlands-Shahidi method over
function fields. We will go over an induction step that appears in the
classical groups and involves exterior and symmetric square L-functions.
We will then turn towards Langlands functoriality and Rankin-Selberg
product L-functions for generic representations of two classical groups.
An important application is a proof of the Ramanujan conjecture for the
classical groups in positive characteristic.
