Rediscovering Aldous Huxleys "Brave New World"
Professor John Sutherland s guided literary tour of Huxley s classic work inaugurates a series on the dystopian novel, a world in which all-powerful governments prevail, where pervasive technology and thought control suppress people en masse, but are not always able to enslave the individual human spirit.
With specialty fields in Victorian literature and the modern novel, Dr. John Sutherland, one of Caltech s most popular professors, returns to campus to launch the series on the dystopian novel. He is the perfect speaker to revisit the modern classic, Brave New World. After his review of the work, a Q and A session will follow, ensuring an evening of spirited and challenging discussion.
Admission is free.
