Kitchen Fire Safety Alert

Caltech's Fire Shop, Campus Security, EH&S, and building occupants frequently respond to fire alarms from burnt food, most often from unattended items in microwaves or toaster ovens. These incidents can disrupt research activities and student living areas, trigger building evacuations, and occasionally lead to fires. Small burns can cause big disruptions and are preventable. Please review these kitchen safety tips and consider posting them in your shared kitchen or break area to help keep our campus safe and alarm-free.
